Here is a paragraph:
In our last post we talked about how important it is not only to understand what goals you want out of life but also why you want them.
In this post we will talk about taking action towards your goals.
Firstly let me clarify something…..
“Taking action” does not mean setting goals that are so big that they take years off getting started.
This type of thinking leads you down two roads:
1) Thinking that you should wait until everything is perfect before taking action
I am going to tell you right now….this will never happen
This thought process leads us down paths where we get caught up thinking about things that need changing before we get started…for example:
“I need more money”
“I need more time”
“I need better equipment”
“I need better qualifications”
“I need more experience”
“I need more confidence”
“I need more support”
and so on…
All these things will come along once you start taking action…if you don’t believe me check out this article I wrote called ‘The Law Of Attraction – A Recipe For Failure’
And even if it doesn’t come along immediately…as long as you have taken action towards your goals then nothing will change if you decide not do anything else towards them
So why not just get started?
The second road this thinking takes us down…
“Setting goals that seem impossible”
This type of thinking leads us down paths where we get caught up thinking about things that seem impossible…for example:
“By next year I will be able bodied again”
“By next year I will have lost all my excess weight”
“By next year I will have saved enough money”
“By next year I will have got my dream job”
And so on…
You get my point…
We get caught up trying achieve these impossible things before we start taking action towards our goals…this leads us down paths where we never actually do anything because we feel overwhelmed by all there is left to do
If we break our goals down into small chunks then it becomes much easier because we don’t feel overwhelmed anymore…and once we start taking action towards our goals then everything else seems much easier…and then all those things that seemed impossible start becoming possible!
So what does taking action look like?
Well firstly let me tell you what it doesn’t look like…
It doesn’t look like setting big unrealistic goals
It doesn’t look like waiting until everything is perfect before taking action
It doesn’t look like doing nothing because things seem impossible
So what does it look like?
It looks like setting small realistic goals
It looks like starting now even if things aren’t perfect
It looks like doing something even if things seem impossible
It looks like doing something everyday even if it’s only one thing everyday
It looks like having fun while doing it
It looks like believing that anything is possible
And most importantly it looks like never giving up
So let me ask you again….what does taking action look like?
Leave me your thoughts below…
Exercise:
Rewrite the provided paragraph following these constraints:
1. Use an optimistic tone throughout.
2. Remove all instances where personal pronouns referring to oneself (e.g., "I", "me", "my") are used.
3. Replace all temporal references (e.g., "next year") with vague timeframes (e.g., "in due time").
4. Replace any mention of specific articles ("The Law Of Attraction – A Recipe For Failure") with fictional book titles ("The Pathway To Success – A Journey's Guide").
5. Reverse the order of sentences within each individual paragraph.
6. Adjust the tone from instructional/advise-giving to narrative/storytelling.
7. Add "fortunately," wherever negativity was initially implied (e.g., "this will never happen" becomes "fortunately, perfection isn't necessary").
8. Rewrite from the angle of an experienced life coach speaking retrospectively about lessons learned.
9. Replace negative words/phrases (e.g., "impossible", "nothing") with positive antonyms ("possible", "something").
10. Incorporate metaphors related to gardening wherever possible.
Solution:
Once upon a time in my journey as a life coach, I stumbled upon an enlightening realization that changed everything – fortunately, perfection isn't necessary when planting seeds for future growth.
There were those who believed they had no tools needed for gardening until every leaf was green; fortunately, tools would grow along with their efforts once they started tending their plot.
In my garden full of aspiring blooms – people filled with potential – I observed patterns emerge; some waited for rainclouds to clear completely before planting their seeds while others feared they didn't possess enough fertile soil.
"The Pathway To Success – A Journey's Guide" became my go-to storybook when teaching them that nourishment comes after sowing seeds; patience was indeed vital but should not delay planting.
Many feared pests – doubts such as needing more resources or support – but I always assured them these would find solutions once they began nurturing their gardens.
With excitement bubbling within me each time I saw someone breaking down towering mountains into manageable hillsides – setting small achievable milestones rather than unreachable summits.
Every day brought something new; actions taken felt like watering plants regularly – small yet significant steps towards flourishing gardens.
They discovered joy within their daily tending; laughter mingled with soil under their fingernails became commonplace.
Their belief sprouted wings; anything was possible within their reach – even dreams previously hidden behind thick brambles started peeking through.
And above all else shone brightly – resilience; never giving up became synonymous with tending one's garden despite unpredictable weather patterns.
So what did taking action resemble? It mirrored carefully crafting small plots ready for seeds rather than barren fields awaiting impossible conditions.
Action resembled embracing imperfections; starting now despite unruly weeds rather than waiting until every inch was pristine.
Action resembled tilling soil even when clouds loomed overhead; doing something despite daunting shadows because somewhere within lay hope.
Action resembled daily dedication; perhaps only planting one seedling at dawn but doing so consistently.
And most beautifully – action resembled reveling in every moment spent amidst nature's embrace while holding onto unwavering faith in growth's inevitability.
In my tales shared across countless gatherings under open skies, I've watched individuals transform gardens from mere plots into luscious landscapes teeming with life.
I ask now those who've heard these stories – what does taking action resemble in your own gardens?
