11 Duels Won, 2 Key Passes: Manor Solomon Shines in New Role on International Duty
Leeds United will be hoping their summer loan signing, Manor Solomon, starts to make an impact, and his latest international performance hints that may be coming soon.
Leeds United travel to Swansea City on Sunday, aiming to get back to winning ways in the Championship and maintain their push for promotion. Before that, all eyes will be on Thorp Arch, where the club hopes for the return of key first-team players, including Manor Solomon, who has had a challenging start to his loan spell at Elland Road.
Manor Solomon helped Israel secure a 1-0 victory over Belgium in the Nations League.
Following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against France, where they withstood intense pressure, Israel looked to carry that momentum into their next challenge against Belgium.
Under the management of Domenico Tedesco, Belgium arrived in Israel ranked 6th in the FIFA World Rankings, but it was Solomon and his teammates who emerged victorious.
A late strike in the 86th minute from substitute Yarden Shua secured a 1-0 win for Israel, capitalizing on a defensive error in Belgium’s buildup play.
Manor Solomon played a key role in Israel’s impressive 1-0 victory over Belgium in the Nations League. Despite being under pressure for much of the match, Solomon’s performance stood out. The Israeli winger was involved in key moments, showcasing his technical ability and work rate.
Solomon contributed defensively by helping out with pressing and tracking back, while also offering an outlet on the counter. His most notable moment came in the build-up to the winning goal, which came in the 86th minute. Although he wasn’t directly involved in the goal, Solomon’s positioning and ability to maintain composure under pressure allowed Israel to break on the counter, leading to the dramatic strike by Yarden Shua.
While not as flashy as some of his other international performances, this was a solid display from Solomon, underlining his importance to the team as they secured a vital three points against a highly-ranked Belgian side.
It was an intriguing evening for Manor Solomon as Israel’s manager, Ran Ben Shimon, chose a cautious approach out of possession against a stronger Belgian side. Solomon started as a left-wing-back in a defensive 5-3-2 formation for the hosts, a role that required him to balance defensive duties with attacking runs down the flank.
The stats highlight Solomon’s importance in Israel’s 1-0 win, with his work ethic and versatility playing a key role in securing the valuable three points. Despite the victory, Israel was ultimately relegated to the Nations League’s B League, but Solomon’s performance on the night was still a standout, showing his ability to contribute even in a more defensive role.

After the match, Solomon shared his thoughts on the historic win over Belgium (via ONE.co.il):
“It’s a huge achievement for the national team, a victory over Belgium is something very special. I’m extremely proud of the entire team. We gave everything in the last two games, we sacrificed, we fought against two very strong teams. We feel that something amazing is growing in this squad, and we truly believed before the match that we could achieve something incredible, and we did.
“Playing against France at the Stade de France, we knew it would take a lot of good things to happen to get a point, and they did. We defended brilliantly, offensively we weren’t at our best, but Daniel made a great play to save us. That point meant everything.
“Against Belgium, we were more evenly matched, although they had more possession, but we showed we were on par with them, created chances, and in the end, we deserved to win.”
Major Confidence Boost for Solomon After Strong 90-Minute Performance
Leeds have yet to see the best of Manor Solomon, and he’s looked a bit out of sync in a Whites shirt so far. However, confidence can be a game-changer for many players, and this strong performance for Israel could be just the boost he needs.
If Solomon can carry this level of play into his appearances for Leeds, we might finally see the impact Daniel Farke was hoping for when he brought him in.
